Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, while speaking to media on Monday expressed his opinions over the Kashmir situation and the following reactions of neighboring nations. He also said that peace in Kashmir is ‘artificial in nature’.

Earlier Shashi Tharoor slammed the ruling government for detaining leaders in their houses. He also questioned the BJP government of ignoring mainstream political parties in Jammu. It has been argued that BJP didn’t consult with any parties in the valley regarding Article 370 scrapping.

He also slammed the Modi government to take all stakeholders in Kashmir peace process on board with the decision.

Tharoor on being asked about the peaceful situation in the valley said the situation is artificial. In the real sense, the peace will elude the former state till the leaders are freed and freedom of common people is restored. He also expressed relief on the fact that Eid celebrations in the Jammu and Kashmir went with grace and festive mood.

But he questioned the normalcy of Kashmir in the current situation since many leaders have been put under house arrest. His friends Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah have also been taken into custody following the scrapping of Article 370.

On his reactions over China’s remark of observing Kashmir situation from closely, He as quoted by ANI, said, “Let them closely watch. Closely watching is fine. We will also closely watch them. They can also closely watch.”

He also questioned the intentions of UK Labour party members who are said to be toeing the lines of Pakistan’s stand. He said that UN resolution has been adopted paragraph by paragraph, and it was meant to be implemented gradually in a sequential manner. But, since Pakistan has not withdrawn its militants and continue to terrorize India, other provisions of the resolution could not be adopted.
