On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is all set visit Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir, today to pay tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the war.

‘Leaving New Delhi for Drass on a day-long visit to J&K. Shall visit the Kargil War Memorial to pay tributes to the fallen soldiers. I shall also be visiting Jammu region where two bridges built by BRO at Ujh in Kathua and Basantar in Samba will be dedicated to the nation’, tweeted Union Minister as he leaves for the Valley on Saturday.

This is the 20th Anniversary of the Kargil War and the year will be celebrated as a milestone in a huge manner by the Indian Army with an aim to rekindling the pride of the soldiers who were a part of the massive operation Vijay.

Earlier on July 14, Union Defence Minister lit a ‘Victory Flame’ in the National War Museum situated in the national capital. The ‘Victory Flame’ will reach drass in Jammu and Kashmir on July 26 in a bid to show respect and to celebrate India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War.

Rajnath Singh, at the National War Museum, paid tribute to the Soldiers. ‘Paid tributes to the heroes of Kargil and other fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives while fighting for the honour of the country. The nation will remain indebted to these fallen soldiers’, Singh tweeted on July 14.

The flame would travel through 11 districts and cities and would finally reach Drass, where it would be merged with the eternal flame at the Kargil War Memorial.
