Almost a day after the ongoing development over Jammu and Kashmir and Article 370, outgoing Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday gave his first reaction saying that this abuse of power has grave implications for our national security.
Rahul Gandhi further asserted that this nation is made by its people and not by a plot of land.
Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘National integration isn’t furthered by unilaterally tearing apart J&K, imprisoning elected representatives and violating our Constitution. This nation is made by its people, not plots of land. This abuse of executive power has grave implications for our national security’.

His remarks come at a time when there are differences of opinion within the party over the government’s move to scrap Article 370. Congress Senior leader and CWC member Deependra Hooda has expressed his support in favor of the government’s move.
He said that archaic provisions like Article 370 do not carry validity in the new age of the 21st century. Though he advised the government to execute their decision in such manner that it does not cost the peace of the state and its people.
Earlier on Monday, party’s Chief whip and Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneshwar Kalita stepped down from the party and the parliament over the party’s stand on the scrapping of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
In the meantime, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday will move the three important bills of Jammu and Kashmir today in Lok Sabha.
The three bills are – Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019, The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill 2019 and the bill sought to scrap Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier the Upper House of the parliament, Rajya Sabha, on Monday, gave its nod to the resolution scrapping Article 370 from the valley that gives special status to the state.
The Rajya Sabha approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019, that sought to divide the state into two territories – Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Jammu and Kashmir as a one Union Territory will have a legislature along with an L-G, while Ladakh without legislature.
