Rajya Sabha Parliamentarian from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday gave Zero Hour Notice in the Upper House of the Parliament to discuss different issues.

MK Stalin’s Dravida Munnetra Kazghagam (DMK) MP P Wilson has submitted Zero Hour notice in the Upper House of Rajya Sabha over a demand to ‘increase the retirement age of High Court Judges’.

While Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha MP Satyanaraian Jatia gave zero hour notice in the Rajya Sabha over the need to aware public about the public welfare schemes and initiatives.

While another MP from the saffron party Harnath Singh Yadav submitted Zero Hour notice seeking discussion on ‘injustice towards employees of institutions accredited to AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).

The Zero House of the Rajya Sabha refers to the time immediately following the Question Hour, where Parliamentarians can raise issues of great importance without the mandatory 10 days advance notice.

The Session of the Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, started from June 20 and was originally slated to end on July 26. However, the parliament session has been extended by the Union Government till August 7 to give a push to some important legislation.

Earlier on Monday, As decided by the Rajya Sabha Chairman, due to some urgent legislative business today, Zero Hour submissions were taken up in the House today after the completion of Legislative Business listed for the day.

In a quick turn of events, the Upper House of the parliament, Rajya Sabha, on Monday, gave its nod to the resolution scrapping Article 370 from the valley that gives special status to the state.

The Rajya Sabha approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019, that sought to divide the state into two territories – Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Jammu and Kashmir as a one Union Territory will have a legislature along with an L-G, while Ladakh without legislature.
