According to the information provided by Karnataka Law Minister JC Madhuswamy, the winter session of the Karnataka assembly will be held from October 14 to October 26 at Vidhan Soudha in Bengaluru.

The decision came after a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. It was reported that the decision has been taken due to the flood situation in Belagavi. As per the traditional practice, Belagavi used to host the legislature session once a year since 2006, but now it cannot happen.

The winter session will be now held in Bengaluru instead of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi. Belgavi (North Karnataka) district was hit by a damaging flood and the area is yet to recover from the damages wrecked by the natural disaster.

The final call was taken by the Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa who was informed by the Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi that the administration will be unable to handle the preparation for the session.
