Taking a strong cognizance, The Poll Commission of India on Thursday issued a fresh notice to Bharatiya Janata Party Star Campaigner Yogi Adityanath over his communal remarks which he made during a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal on April 19. The poll office has asked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to furnish a reply within 24 hours.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while addressing a rally on April 19 made a controversial remark saying ‘Babar ki Aaulad’ while giving reference to Samajwadi Party Candidate Rahman Barq as. He reportedly said, ‘There is one candidate who talks about Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Gautam Buddha. While on the other hand, there is an opposition candidate who calls himself a ‘Babar Ki Aaulad’.

The Poll Commission in a notice sent to Yogi Adityanath stated, ‘The Commission, after considering the available material and extent instructions on the matter, has decided to provide you with an opportunity to explain your stand regarding the said statement,” EC stated.

Yogi Adityanath’s controversial remarks came days after EC barred him from campaigning for 72 hours for making a religious sensitive comment and violating the poll code of conduct.
The Poll Body had on April 15 barred Yogi Adityanath from campaigning for 72 hours. Uttar Chief Minister and BJP Star Campaigner Yogi Adityanath had on April 9 made a controversial remark on Ali and Bajrangbali. Yogi while addressing a gathering in UP’s Meerut said ‘Congress and Mahagathbandhan have faith in Ali, then we have faith in Bajrangbali’.
While on another development, Poll Commission recently granted ‘clean chits’ to PM Modi over his election speech which he made in poll rallies. EC said that PM Narendra Modi speeches in Latur and Wardha district of Maharashtra do not violate the model code of conduct.
The Poll Commission in a run-up to the national elections 2019 has barred many candidates including BSP Supremo Mayawati, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Congress Leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, among others.
General Elections 2019 is being across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. The remaining 169 Lok Sabha seats will go to polls in remaining three phases.
Counting of the votes will be held on May 23.
