Election Commission of India on Saturday directed the East Delhi Returning Officer to file an FIR against BJP nominee Gautam Gambhir, for “holding a rally in East Delhi without permission. Gambhir in a run-up to the national elections 2019 has been named by Bharatiya Janata Party its candidate from Delhi East Parliamentary Seat.

He has been booked by the Poll Commission for allegedly violating the model code of conduct. He is accused of holding a rally without permission in Jangpura Assembly segment of the Delhi East parliamentary seat.

Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi East, K Mahesh on the direction of Poll Body asked Delhi Police to register an FIR against Gautam Gambhir for rallying without permission from the Poll Body on April 26.

He is pitched against Aam Aadmi Party nominee Atishi Marlena and Congress Candidate Arvinder Singh Lovely for Delhi East Parliamentary Constituency.

Earlier on Friday, AAP accused Gautam Gambhir of having two voter ID Cards which is a criminal office. Speaking to media, AAP nominee from Delhi East Atishi filed a criminal complaint in the trial court against cricketer & BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir on the issue. Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court to hear the matter on May 1.

My appeal to the citizens of East Delhi Lok Sabha – pls don’t waste your vote by voting for @GautamGambhir; he is going to get sooner or later for having two Voter ID cards! Don’t waste your vote! #GambhirApradh,” said AAP Candidate Atishi in a tweet.

Gautam Gambhir had on March 22 joined Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of Union Minister Arun Jaitley.

Earlier during the nominations, AAP has alleged and raised objections on the forms of Gautam Gambhir. However, the Poll Officials rejected the claim and accepted the nominations of BJP candidate.

Lok Sabha Polls 2019 has already begun and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23.

BJP in Delhi will be taking on Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. All 7 seats of Delhi will vote on May 12.
