West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday issued a warning for its councilors, who joined BJP, saying that all of them will face consequences.

In a statement released by the party, it said even of the councilors have the backing of Bharatiya Janata Party, there will not be spared for the ‘crimes’ they have committed.

It added in the statement that some members of Panchayats and municipalities have joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the ulterior motives and thinking that their crimes and misdeeds will be washed away.

It shifted sides to get it away but they are mistaken, the statement added.

It added that any of its former members if found doing wrongdoings, no one will be spared. ‘If there has been wrongdoing on anyone’s part, they will have to face the consequences even though they have the backing of the BJP’, TMC statement added which was issued on Sunday.

It should be noted that several MLAs and Councillors of Trinamool Congress have joined Bharatiya Janata Party till now after it registered a massive victory in the last month concluded national polls.

Earlier in a run-up to the polls, many Leaders from Mamata’s TMC including Arjun Singh, Anupam Hazra among others had joined Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Bharatiya Janata Party in the national polls made a big dent in Mamata’s Stronghold West Bengal. The saffron party managed to give a big jolt to Mamata Banerjee‘s TMC by winning 18 seats out of total 42 Lok Sabha Seats of the state.

Bharatiya Janata Party has also improved its vote share from 17% in 2014 to over 40% in recently held national polls.
