Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati on hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Union Government for scrapping Article 370 and bifurcating the Jammu and Kashmir into two separate Union Territories, one Jammu & Kashmir, while the other one is Ladakh.
Taking to Twitter, Mayawati said, ‘The Demand for revoking the article 370 and Article 35A that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir and implementing the social, economic and political justice motive of Constitution was pending for very long, BSP now expects that people residing in there will be benefited from Centre’s decision’.
In another tweet, she lauded the Central government for carving out Leh-Ladakh as separate Union Territory.
‘Similarly, with the declaration of Leh-Ladakh of Jammu and Kashmir as a separate centrally administered region, the very old demand of the people of the Buddhist community is now complete, which is also welcomed by the BSP. With this, the Buddhist followers of Baba Saheb, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar are particularly happy throughout the country’, She said in a tweet.

Earlier on Monday, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) extended its Support Government in the Upper House of the Parliament. Speaking in the House, BSP Satish Chandra Mishra said, ‘Our party gives complete support. We want that the Bill be passed. Our party is not expressing any opposition to Article 370 Bill and the other Bill’.
Earlier the Upper House of the parliament, Rajya Sabha, on Monday, gave its nod to the resolution scrapping Article 370 from the valley that gives special status to the state.
The Rajya Sabha also approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019, that sought to divide the state into two territories – Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Jammu and Kashmir as a one Union Territory will have a legislature along with an L-G, while Ladakh without legislature.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will move key bills related to Jammu and Kashmir today in the lower house of the parliament, Lok Sabha.
