Samajawadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mayawati will hold a joint a rally in Varanasi on May 16 – a seat from where PM Narendra Modi is seeking another term. The two bigwigs will address a joint rally and will seek votes for Mahagathbandhan Candidate Shalini Yadav.
Samajwadi party state spokesperson, Manoj Rai Dhoopchandi, revealing the details of about the rally said that both the chiefs will address a rally at Shree Sigovardhanpur village of Lanka Police Station – Kashi Vishwavidyalaya area.
Further revealing details about the mega show, Manoj Rai Dhoopchandi said state-level workers of both parties will reach the district 2-3 days prior and will look after the arrangements of the rally.

Apart from SP and BSP, Ajit Singh‘s Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) workers are also expected to reach Varanasi to participate in the joint rally of Mahagathabandhan.
A day before on May 15, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is slated to hold a mega roadshow for Ajay Rai.
BSP-SP has named Shalini Yadav as its candidate after the nomination of sacked BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav was rejected by the poll commission. Shalini Yadav in a run-up to the national polls is up against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ajay Rai of Congress.
Narendra Modi is seeking his second term from the Lok Sabha Seat of Varanasi. Modi had in 2014 General elections defeated AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal with over 3.80 Lakh votes. Prior to Narendra Modi, BJP Senior Leader Murli Manohar Joshi represented the Varanasi Seat since 2009-2014.
Varanasi Lok Sabha Seat along with 12 other seats of the state will go to polls on May 19, four days before counting.
General Elections 2019 is being held across seven phases starting April 11 to May 19. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23. Voting of the remaining 59 constituencies will be held in last and seventh phase slated for May 19.
