Ten days after quitting BJP over a prolonged feudRashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) Supremo Upendra Kushwaha joined UPA on Thursday.

In a press conference at AICC headquarters, Kushwaha announced that he will be joining the Opposition’s Grand Alliance in Bihar. The other dignitaries present at the conference were Senior Congress Leader Ahmed Patel, AICC state in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil, Rashtriya Janata Dal Leader Tejashwi Yadav, and Loktantrik Janata Dal Leader Sharad Yadav.

Kushwaha tweeted, “I joined UPA Grand Alliance in the public interest. To ensure education, employment, and health care for the people; we have been struggling and will continue to do so.”

Kushwaha told the press that his concern for the people of Bihar forms the biggest reason for his decision. Also, he attributed this move to the wholeheartedness shown by Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel welcomed Kushwaha by saying that it’s a matter of happiness that Upendra Kushwaha is joining the Mahagathbandhan.

Mahagathbandhan is formed to counter the NDA combine of BJP-Janata Dal(U)-Lok Janshakti Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

UPA Mahagathbandhan in Bihar comprises of the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular).

Kushwaha had stepped down as Minister of State for Human Resource Development. Also, he walked out of the NDA alliance in Bihar and at the Centre.

Kushwaha mentioned in his resignation letter to PM Modi that he felt “dejected, betrayed” by the Prime Minister’s leadership.
