The Trinamool Congress on Sunday formed a 12-Member Committee has to chart out strategies for Lok Sabha Poll Campaign in West Bengal, the TMC General Secretary Partha Chatterjee said on Sunday. The 12 member Committee has been tasked to look into the applications by aspiring candidates to fight the elections and forward those to the party’s supremo Mamata Banerjee, Chatterjee added.

The 12-member committee comprises TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and MP Abhishek Banerjee, Subrata Bakshi, Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Suvendu Adhikari, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Sashi Panja, Moloy Ghatak, Jyotipriyo Mallick, Subrata Mukherjee, party’s Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien and Partha Chatterjee.

While Derek O’Brien and Abhishek Banerjee are Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, the other 10 members are state ministers.

Chatterjee while announcing the names of the committee said, ‘The 12 Member Committee will look into election-related publicity and screening of applications of aspiring candidates in consultation with party supremo Mamata Banerjee’.

Training guns towards Saffron party, Chatterjee said the Bhartiya Janta Party indulges in creating divisions among people. He added while racking the BJP’s Bike Rally, ‘In the name of Sankalp rally, they tried to go on a rampage in different parts of the state,” he said added referring to clashes between the BJP workers and the police at a few places in the state on Sunday.

Chatterjee further attacked BJP who is the principle opposition to TMC, He said: “These attempts will be dealt with strongly by the administration.”

Bhartiya Janta Party on Sunday organized the ‘Vijay Sankalp’ bike rally as part of the party’s countrywide pre-poll exercise to establish contact with people. BJP workers clashed with the police in several places of West Bengal on Sunday as the saffron party was prevented from holding its ‘Vijay Sankalp’ rally.

In West Bengal that sends 42 Parliamentarians to the Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress has currently has 34 Lok Sabha Seats, Congress 4, while BJP and CPI(M) won 2 seats each.

Congress MP from Malda North, Mausam Benazir Noor defected to the ruling Trinamool Congress in January. Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee announced that Noor will be the TMC candidate from the same constituency in the upcoming General Election and campaign for the party in all districts of North Bengal.
