In a review meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) convened in New Delhi, PM Modi reviewed the implementation of ‘Housing for ALL by 2022’. The event was attended by prominent secretaries to assess the success of ongoing schemes.

It is first such meeting in his second tenure. He iterated the government’s strong commitment to his policy of ‘Housing for ALL by 2022’. Prime minister advocated bureaucrats to actively achieve this objective by overcoming the obstacles in policy implementation. He advised government officers to work effortlessly to complete this goal of government where no family is left behind without their own home.

The 1st meeting of PRAGATI in this new tenure of Modi government is based on the success of previously organized meetings (29 in total) convened in the first tenure, which saw the review of 257 projects of almost 12 lakh crore investment.

Prime minister also examined the working of government’s much-lauded health scheme: Ayushman Bharat. As per the ground reports, 35 lakh people have been benefitted under the scheme and 16,000 plus hospitals have joined till now.

He called for a conversation with states to suggest best practices to improve the functioning of the scheme. He sought to know about steps that are being taken to prevent cases of corruption and misuse in this scheme. He also said a study should be carried out in “aspirational districts” to track the benefits and positive impact of this scheme.

On Wednesday, Prime minister also reviewed the success of grievance redressal mechanism of PM Awas Yojana (urban). Alongside, he also reviewed the resolution of public complaints related to the Department of Financial Services.

Iterating the significance of Jal-Shakti, he also counseled state to maximize their efforts towards water conservation, especially in the monsoon season.

Observing the implementation of Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, the prime minister called for technology usage to collect feedback from differently-abled on accessibility issues.

He also assessed the progress of eight important infrastructure projects (Railway and Road projects) spanning over the states of Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha.
