Opposition parties including Trinamool Congress, CPI, CPI-M, and others on Wednesday gave a Zero Hour notice in the Upper House of the parliament under Rule 267 to discuss the ‘defections being created to dislodge the elected governments’.

Among those who have given the notice include MP Rajeev Gowda of Indian National Congress, Tiruchi Siva of DMK, Ravi Prakash Verma of Samajwadi Party, D Raja of Communist Party of India, and TK Rangarajan of Communist Party of India (Marxist).

While earlier in the day Trinamool Congress and BJP‘s Maharashtra ally also gave notice under the rule 267 of the Rajya Sabha. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has given zero hour notice in Rajya sabha over delay in the production of Vande Bharat Express train.

While Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Dr. Santanu Sen has given zero hour notice in Rajya sabha over “violence against doctors in medical institutions”

While other MPs of Trinamool Congress – Manas Bhuni and Dola Sena – gave the notice to discuss the BJP-led Centre’s plan to dis-invest 42 PSUs.

The Zero House of the Rajya Sabha refers to the time immediately following the Question Hour, where Parliamentarians can raise issues of great importance without the mandatory 10 days advance notice.

The Session of the Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha, started from June 20 and will continue till July 26.
