The election commission of India has announced the election dates for the assembly elections in five states, namely Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. The elections will take place in 4 stages on 12th November, 20th November, 28th November and 7th December. The results for elections in all states will be announced together, on 11th December 2018. The announcement was made by CEC OP Rawat in a press conference today.
OP Rawat stated that the theme of these assembly elections is Accessible Elections and he stated that the role of media remains important as the elections are announced and conducted.

Rajasthan Assembly Elections
Elections in Rajasthan will take place on 7th December on all 200 constituencies. The result will be announced on 11th December 2018. The tenure of Rajasthan assembly expires on 20th January 2019. Currently, the state has BJP government, which came in power in 2013.
Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections
Elections in Madhya Pradesh will take place on November 28th, 2018. The result will be announced with the other states on 11th December 2018. All the 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh will go in polls together. The tenure of Madhya Pradesh assembly gets over on 7th January 2019. The BJP state government is currently led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections
Elections in Chhattisgarh will take place in two stages. The state has 90 assembly seats, out of which, 18 will go in polls on 12th November, whereas, rest 72 seats will face elections on 20th November. The result will be announced on 11th December. The tenure of the current assembly will expire on January 05, 2019. The state government is currently led by Raman Singh.
Mizoram Assembly Elections
The northeastern state will go in polls on November 28th and the results will be announced on 11th December 2018. The tenure of 50 member assembly will expire on 15th December 2018. The state is currently led by Congress.
Telangana Assembly Elections
The tenure of Telangana assembly was to get over next year, however, after KCR dismissed the assembly last month, the elections in the southern state were scheduled with the 4 states, which were to go in elections this year. Telangana will go in polls on December 7th, along with Rajasthan. The state is currently led by care-taker CM, K Chandrasekhar Rao.
