New hospital to be set up near Shanti Path flyover

In a bid to woo Delhi voters ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, Aam Aadmi Party led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced to add around 14,000 beds in public hospitals in the city by 2023.

The detailed provision for the same has been provided along with the status report on public health infrastructure. Delhi’s health department has prepared the report and submitted to the Chief Minister. According to the reports, the party in power can also add around 400 units to its existing fleet of mohalla clinics by December end. Out of these, 200 mohalla clinics might see its launch by October only.

The submitted report said that in addition to the present capacity of 11,353 beds in 38 government hospitals in the national capital, another 13,899 beds will be added soon. It is also expected that the Delhi government will launch three more hospitals in the coming six months. The capacity of these hospitals will be around 2800 beds.

According to the status report, over 1.6 crore OPD (Outpatient Department) visits and 15.3 lakh tests have been conducted in these mohalla clinics free of cost since their inception in July 2015.

Arvind Kejriwal, speaking on the health status of the city said that the ongoing health program of the Delhi government is the largest such program of healthcare in the world. He mentioned that the expansion of health services in the national capital has been unprecedented in nature. The Chief Minister also informed that the total increase in capacity in terms of bed capacity has been more than 122%.

News of upcoming Delhi elections has put Aam Aadmi Party in full swing mode. The party had previously announced to launch a month-long “Jan Samwad Yatra” to inform the general public about the welfare measures taken by Delhi government in recent years.

In a previous meeting, Arvind Kejriwal also announced that all the households having functional water meters in the capital region will be given a waiver on water arrears. It is expected that the waiver of water arrears will benefit almost 13 lakh people. Connection of 24×7 water supply has been also promised to the voters of Delhi by the Chief Minister.
