Delhi: The national capital remains engulfed in a layer of dense fog this morning. Visuals from Kashmiri Gate and Majnu Ka Tilla informed the Indian Meteorological Department.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), also confirmed that 10℃ and 11.2℃ temperature was recorded in Delhi’s Palam and Safdarjung at 5:30 am today.

Dense to very dense fog observed over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Moderate to Dense fog over Delhi, North West Rajasthan, North West Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Assam, and Meghalaya at 5:30 AM on Monday.

The IMD informed that visibility (in meter) in Chandigarh, Bareilly, and Gorakhpur is 25; Amritsar, Ambala, Ganganagar, Gwalior, Baharaich, Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnea, Guwahati, Tezpur, Agartala, and Silchar is 50; Patiala, Hisar, Agra, and Lucknow is 200; while in Delhi-Safdarjung and Palam visibility is 500.

Earlier, IMD said, “Minimum temperatures over the plains of north India is very likely to rise by 3-4℃ by the morning of January 18.”

The Whether department on Sunday said, “Conditions are becoming favorable for the cessation of Northeast Monsoon rains over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala and adjoining areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka around 19th January 2021. The current spell of Dense to Very Dense Fog across Indo-Gangetic plains are likely to reduce during the next 2-3 days with likely occurrence of Dense to Very Dense Fog in isolated to some pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Bihar.”

“Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura
during the same period. Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions in isolated pockets are very likely over Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi during next 24 hours,” it said.
