Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Delegation led by Uttar Pradesh President RS Kushwaha and Senior Leader Lalji Verma will visit Sonbhadra on Monday to meet the families to those who were killed in July 17 firing Incident, the party stated in an official statement on Sunday.

The party said that the delegation will apprise the party Supremo Mayawati about the situation after its visit to the district.

The party in a statement added that it follows the policy not only where it does not react to show off. ‘That is why immediately after the incident when section 144 was in place it directed its party leaders not to visit the place because of the apprehension that obstructing police action might harm the affected people itself’.

The party in a statement, however, slammed the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself visiting the place is a clear indication that ban on entry of politicians has ended.

Earlier on Saturday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday announced that her party will give Rs. 10 Lakh each as compensation to the family of the victims who lost their lives in Sonbhadra firing Incidents. She further demanded that Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government should give them Rs. 25 Lakh each to the families of victims.

While later in the day, Priyanka Gandhi also met the family members of the victims of Sonbhadra firing incident that claimed lives of 10 people, in Chunar.

Earlier on Friday, Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi was detained by the UP Police when she was on her way to Sonbhadra to meet the family of those killed in July 17 firing incident. Uttar Pradesh Police, citing the imposition of Section 144, taken Priyanka Gandhi into detention. She was later taken to Chunar Guest House, Mirzapur from Varanasi. The whole Episode had upped the political temperature of the state.

The firing incident took place in Ubbha Village of Ghorawal where the head of the village went to take the possession of the land which he purchased two years ago. However, the Village Head met with Opposition from the villagers which triggered the firing that led to the death of 10 people.

Till now, 29 peoples have been arrested and 4 officials have been suspended over the issue.
