In a quick turn of events, Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday replaced its Candidate from Jalgaon parliamentary seat of Maharashtra. The party has now named Unmesh Patil, a legislator from Chalisgaon Assembly for the mega polls 2019. The party has replaced Smita Uday Wagh with Umesh Patil.

Wagh name was declared by the party in its second list of 36 candidates on March 23. Smita Uday Wagh had already filed her nominations for the polls which are slated for April 23 for Jalgaon Parliamentary Seat. Earlier the party has denied ticket to its sitting MP AT (Nana) Patil and named Wagh from Seat. However, Wagh is now replaced with Umesh Patil.

The move came after party internal survey suggested Wagh as a weak Candidate against the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)‘s Candidate who has named former minister Gulabrao Deokar from Jalgaon Seat.

The Jalgaon Parliamentary Seat is considered as a strong seat for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and had won in 2014 General Elections with around 4 lakh votes.

Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena has inked a poll tie-up in Maharashtra and will take on NCP and Congress Alliance in Maharashtra for the mega polls 2019. Both the fronts have announced Candidates on almost all 48 seats if the state.

Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. Lok Sabha Polls are slated to begin from April 11 and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19.

Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.

48 Parliamentary Seats of Maharashtra will go to polls in four phases starting from April 11, then on April 18, April 23, and April 29.
