MIUI 11

Xiaomi is expected to reveal the next-generation of its custom Android skin MIUI at some point this year. While the MIUI 11 is said to be ‘new and unique’ by the company, not all the Xiaomi phone users will be fortunate enough to get to try the new UI. Last month, MIUI’s Product Director Liu Ming and Design Direct Ge Rui, on an AMA post on Weibo about MIUI 11, revealed that the new skin will come with redesigned icons, monochrome low power mode, system-wide dark theme, a native app drawer and more.

The company announced that it will be releasing the MIUI 11 for over 30 Xiaomi handsets, however, a new report claims that the company won’t be bringing the update to a handful of existing and older Xiaomi devices. The list includes the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi Y2, Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3X, Redmi Note 3 and the Redmi Pro.

Moreover, Xiaomi has also announced the list of smartphones that won’t be getting Android 9.0 Pie. These devices include Redmi S2, which is known in India more popularly as Redmi Y2, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A. Notably, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A were launched less than a year ago and Xioami’s decision to not to bring Android 9.0 Pie to these smartphones is surprising. The handsets were promised to get a Pie update, however, according to post on the MIUI forums, the phones have been listed with “Change of Plan, Suspension of Recruitment” which means the update won’t be coming to these models.

There has also been a leaked report on the Xiaomi devices that are supposed to get MIUI 11. According to a report on MyDrivers in China, the MIUI 11 will come to the Mi 9, Mi 8 series, including the Mi 8SE variant, the Mi 8 Youth. In the Mi Mix series, the devices that will get the MIUI 11 update includes  MIX 2S, MIX 2, MIX 1, and Mi MIX 3 devices. The update will reportedly also come to Mi 6X, Mi 6, Mi Note 2 and 3, the Mi 5x, 5c, 5s, 5s Plus. Mi Max 2, Max, Mi Max 3 and Mi Play are also mentioned on the list.

The devices in the Redmi division of the company getting the MIUI 11 update includes Redmi Note 7, Redmi S2, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 6, 6A, 6 Pro, Redmi 5, 5A, 5 Plus, Redmi 4, 4A, 4X. Some of the older devices from Redmi including Redmi 3S, Redmi 3X, Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X are also mentioned on the list.
