Sony RX0 ll

Sony reinvented its action camera lineup last year by introducing the RX0, at CES 2018. Now the company has introduced a successor of the camera with RX0 ll, which features improved specifications and some key highlights such as flip-up LCD display, internal 4K video recording, stabilization, and much more. The camera is priced at $700 (roughly ₹48,270) and will become available starting April.

The Sony RX0 ll features a 1-inch stacked CMOS sensor with a 15.3-megapixel resolution, compared to the last year’s model. It has a 24mm fixed wide-angle lens with an f/4 aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 20cm, which according to the company, is good enough for taking selfies and tabletop photos. The RX0 ll is water resistant up to 10 meters deep, apart from being dustproof, shockproof, and crushproof and weighs 132 grams.

Unlike the RX0, the new RX0 ll can record 4K videos internally at up to 30fps with oversampling, meaning it can deliver smoother and richer quality output. There’s also in-body electronic image stabilization for the first time. With the help of the stacked sensor, the camera can record super slow motion videos in short bursts at up to 1000fps.

One of the key highlights of the RX0 ll is the presence of a 180-degree tilting LCD display, which is lacking from most other action cameras and which can be used for vlogging or simply framing selfies. The display can tilt to a 90-degree angle, however, it lacks touch interaction as there are physical buttons around the display for navigating the menu.

As far as photography is concerned, the RX0 ll has an anti-distortion shutter of up to 1/32,000 seconds and has the ability to shoot 16fps continuous shots. The camera also features optical filters such as Soft Skin Effect and the EYE AF has been adjusted for better portrait shots. Like its predecessor, the new RX0 ll supports uncompressed 4K output via HDMI, picture profile support such as S-Log2 and Time Code functions.
