Samsung Galaxy S10-series

Samsung has finally released its flagship S10-series smartphones. The company launched the smartphones at its Unpacked event in San Francisco on Wednesday. As the rumors had suggested, Samsung launched three smartphones in its S10-series this year namely the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10+, and the Galaxy S10 E–all with hole-punch selfie camera. All the Galaxy S10-series smartphones share some significant specifications such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, Dynamic AMOLED displays, with HDR10+ certification, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, and Wireless PowerShare. Samsung has included the Wireless PowerShare as a new feature to its flagship smartphones which allows reverse wireless charging similar to what we have seen on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Samsung also unveiled its much anticipated foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, at the event. The Samsung Galaxy S10-series smartphones are the first devices to be introduced with UltraSonic in-display fingerprint sensor which differs from the optical in-display fingerprint sensor seen on OnePlus 6T. The new in-display fingerprint sensor is said to be the “most advanced embedded fingerprint scanning method.” Samsung has also launched its S10-series smartphones with Infinity O AMOLED panels. The company is calling the new displays Dynamic AMOLED and is the first panel to feature HDR10+ certification with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. The HDR10+ certification means that the displays have blue light reduction feature apart from improved color accuracy and outdoor visibility. The Galaxy S10 E, however, comes with a side mounted fingerprint scanner with a flat AMOLED display. According to Samsung, the Galaxy S10 E offers  “premium experience in a compact size.”

Other highlights of the Galaxy S10-series smartphones include Wi-Fi 802.11ax support, Dolby Atmos for Gaming, Vapor Chamber cooling (on the Galaxy S10+), Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 (said to be 30 percent faster than the previous generation, compatible with WPC and PMA standards), and Wireless PowerShare (which allows users to charge other Qi Wireless charging devices – such as the new Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch Active, or other Qi-compatible smartphones – using the phones). Wireless charging on the smartphones is compatible with Quick Charge 2.0 and Adaptive Fast Charging.

As is with the previous models of the S-series from Samsung, the new devices come with IP68 water and dust resistance. Lastly, the S10-series also come with “AI-powered performance”, which helps the software pre-load the commonly used apps, recommends Bixby routines based on usage, and has adaptive Power feature which helps in optimizing battery life based on behavior. All the phones will be available in dual-SIM variant, depending on the region.

Samsung also introduced the Galaxy S10 5G variant at the event, which features a 6.7-inch Infinity AMOLED display, a 3D depth sensor camera, 8GB of RAM and a 4500mAh battery.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy S10 will be available in Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism Green, and Prism White color variants and will be available at a starting price of $899(roughly ₹63,900). The Galaxy S10+, on the other hand, will be available for a starting price of $999(roughly ₹71,000) and will be available in Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism Green, and Prism White color variants, as well as Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.
