Amazon Echo Show

Amazon has lately been focusing on expanding its hardware lineup in India and sells a range of Echo smart speakers and Fire TV streaming sticks in the country. Now, the company has launched the second-generation Amazon Echo Show in India. The Echo Show is a smart display with a 10-inch screen and speakers tuned by Dolby. The smart screen will go on sale in India starting from today at a price tag of ₹22,999 through Amazon India and other select retailers.

The second-generation Amazon Echo Show was launched in the United States in 2018 and took its time before making its way to the Indian shores. The speaker seems to be a larger counterpart of the Amazon Echo Spot that was launched last year with a circular 2.5-inch display. The Echo Show features a fabric design with a larger 10-inch display, allowing for more seamless interaction in terms of carrying out tasks such as fetching audio and video content using the Alexa voice assistant, video calling, home surveillance, and more.

The Amazon Echo Show also features Dolby-tuned speakers, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as Zigbee architecture that help in home automation and smart home functionality. The device comes with eight microphones that help in far-field voice recognition, enabling the Echo Show to acknowledge voice commands across large distances and also capture sound during phone calls. It also features a 5-megapixel camera at the front to facilitate video-based features.

The Amazon Echo Show also facilitates video playback, so it can be used to watch Movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime Videos, along with enabling Facebook photos, movie trailers, and video news bulletins using the screen. It also uses the screen to give visual information against the queries to Alexa–Amazon’s voice assistant. The Amazon Echo Show can also be used as a standalone speaker, like Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Plus speakers, to play music from select streaming services including Amazon Prime Music, Ghana, and JioSaavn. It also allows users to surf the web through the in-built browser.

Being a smart speaker, Amazon Echo Show can be customized based on the user’s needs and can be used to carry out tasks such as booking a cab using Ola, getting news updates and food recipes, and more.

As for the launch offers, Amazon Echo Show buyers will get a free Philips Hue smart lightbulb, ₹2000 cash back on purchase with Citibank credit and debit cards, and no-cost EMI schemes on purchases with cards of leading banks.
